The dating website, Mate1.com Online DatingMate1.com, was launched in 2003 and has reportedly gained over 20 millions user accounts since then. It reached its height in popularity in 2007, becoming the third most popular dating site in the United States.

The website boasts that it will match you to potential dating partners based on the criteria that you deem important. There are no lengthy surveys required. Profiles are fully searchable and viewable and the site has its own integrated email and instant chat feature.

Women join the service for free. Men start with a free three day trial for limited services, and then can join as full members for $49.95 per month. While this would seem to be a benefit to the men, thinking there would be more women on the site because they avoid fees, the opposite is actually true.

Many women will find themselves solicited by the site to become an Online Ambassador (OA). Basically, they become employed by Mate1.com Online DatingMate1. Their profiles are then promoted, featured in search results, and are primary matches for most paying heterosexual male or homosexual female members. Many of these online ambassadors disappear as quickly as they appeared, because the terms of their employment are nearly impossible to meet. An OA is expected to answer every email she receives within a 48 hour period in order to receive money for the week, but what Mate1.com Online DatingMate1 does not tell the OA is that they send hundreds of automated messages to members, inviting them to send emails and messages back to the OA.

There are also a number of women who use the service to promote their own websites and webcams. Sometimes, these transitions to outside services are invisible, and it may be unclear to the user that they are now dealing with a third party.

This is not to say that there can not be any matches made on Mate1.com Online DatingMate1.com. As a consumer, you must be careful to avoid the potential scams that can so easily be perpetrated on a dating site. As of June 2009, Mate1.com Online DatingMate1.com has a rating of B+ by the Better Business Bureau, and has received 25 complaints in the three preceding years.

Mate1 is a decent service for women. We can join free, but the $50 fee for men definitely puts it in the above average range for pricing.

I’ve been told male guests cannot view any emails sent to them. They must pay first. I guess most services are like this but it kinda sucks for them.

Mate1 is the funniest and the worst site ive used so far, almost instantly bombarded by profiles of woman all over the place that find your profile interesting and want to chat AND/OR pop-up their instant chat service which they will then ask you, you name, if your single and what you do for work. followed by whats your yahoo or msn / email.

next there are a few different options
they try to send you to different websites usually porns sites to signup/register with their referral id in the link of course, or they tell you their from Ghana for a billion different reasons and their searching for a soulmate!

good thing they offer a 3 day trial for $1.95, would be the biggest waste of money i spent in my life time.

stay away, not even worth a look

Mate1 is really scammer heaven where men are seemingly easy pickings.

As soon as you log in you are bombarded with messages from pretty ‘women’ all claming to be from the US, Australia or UK. But they are organised criminal scammers who seemingly leave nothing out in their efforts to fleece you of your identity and money.

The dead give aways are their appalling english, excessive use of ‘am’ and overuse of caps. If they were to be believed there seems to be no end to the number of gorgeous women in nigeria / Ghana who have come into a fortune but need your help, or are escaping a bad relationship, or inset sob story here. Guys … if you are over 30 and a pretty woman finds you attractive based soly on a profile then get a grip … they are probably some dude in africa. That sex talk has a whole other dimension to it when you realise that.

One site to definitely avoid … unless you enjoy donating to criminals.

Stay away … not worth the hassles

I get a bunch of errors when trying to register and the site takes forever to load. And some of the members seem fake. Help anyone!
